Donatello in the Community

Donatello supports good causes. We’re passionate about the Brighton community and we’re proud to be part of it.

Russell Martin Foundation

The Russell Martin Foundation has teamed up with Donatello to support school children over the summer holidays by providing goodie bags including text books, colouring books as well as free restaurant vouchersThe Russell Martin Foundation currently runs the Extra Time Project which caters for Key Stage 3 students (Year 7-8) in Brighton & Hove who are experiencing difficulties within the secondary school environment which can ultimately result can in under-achievement. With the schools having closed since March due to Covid-19, this means that these students may slip even further behind. Russell Martin, the founder of the charity and current manager of Swansea City stated that; “There are so many negative implications for the young people who are currently not being able to attend school. Not only are they missing out on their education but they are also not being able to socialise with their friends and get the support of their teacher which can affect their mental well-being” The Extra Time Project which is funded by local schools and Brighton & Hove Council is also sponsored by Donatello.

Sue Addis, owner of Donatello is in full agreement; “Life is difficult for everyone at the moment and particularly for these young people who are missing out on their education. We are pleased to help in any way we can and are delighted that we are able to work with the Russell Martin Foundation to do something for them”

The Sue Addis Memorial Fund

The Sue Addis Memorial Fund was recently launched by the Sussex Community Foundation in honour of our Mother Sue Addis. This fund will help to continue her deep commitment to the community of Brighton and Hove. Everyone at Donatello is proud to support the Sue Addis Memorial Fund and we hope that it will continue to help those small local charities that we are so passionate about.

In its first year the Sue Addis Memorial Fund will support charities addressing mental health and domestic violence as they were two causes that Sue cared deeply about.

The Sussex Community Foundation is inviting donations from the public to the new fund. Donations can be made at www.sussexgiving.org.uk/sue. Sussex Community Foundation is a charity that makes grants to other not-for-profit charities and community groups across East and West Sussex and Brighton & Hove.

ARTs

Sue has a personal interest in the arts and has sponsored and supported a wide range of activities, shows and spaces throughout Brighton including Snailspace art installation and trail organised by the hospice charity Martlets in cooperation with Wild in Art.

Dorothy Stringer PE Department

Donatello are proud to support the Dorothy String PE Department.

PE is important. Through PE, students have the opportunity to develop their confidence, resilience, improve their physical and mental well-being and develop a range of practical and cognitive skills that will support them for the rest of their lives. DS understand the role that they play in developing student’s lifelong love for physical activity. A trait which will shape their lives into old age.

This PE department is wide ranging covering extensive activities from Rugby, badminton, football, swimming to dance, fitness, gymnastics and trampolining to name a few. Donatello are proud to support such a positive and successful school.
